The presentation opens with some background on Unum, who ranks 257 on the Fortune 500 and provides benefits for a third of Fortune 500 companies, then transitions into our business problems and challenges within our current data ecosystem that came about as a result of multiple company mergers and acquisitions. As the story unfolds, we will share the basis for why our ecosystem looks as it does, then quickly transition into discussing the qualities that Unum is actively embracing to become a Data-driven Enterprise that ultimately influences our next generation data ecosystem.
  • We will lay out out a view of our next-generation Enterprise Data Ecosystem that is being built on a well-defined strategy and roadmap.
  • We will address how Unum’s Enterprise Data Strategy & Roadmap aligns to our Business Strategy, Goals, and Objectives.
  • We will touch on the critical nature of securing both long-term funding and commitment to staying the course from senior leadership.
  • We will share case studies and lessons learned to demonstrate our actions in embracing a new Enterprise Data Management Vision, along with a new, industry-compliant Enterprise Data Architecture that is serving as the catalyst for the design and build-out of our new Enterprise Data Ecosystem.
  • We will also share the level of acceleration we are experiencing with the use of industry models and standards, along with a view of our high-level roadmap.
  • Close out with summarized points for achieving success.


Edie has over 28 years combined experience in insurance, people management, enterprise data/information management and architecture specializing in delivering results in dynamic environments. She enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 four-legged babies and going on RV adventures.

David is the leader of Unum’s data and business intelligence organization. His background is in revenue-side strategy consulting and business architecture. He has been at Unum for 5 years and enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 and 6 year old daughters.
