With the explosion of Cloud, Big Data and Internet of Things, there is increasing pressure for practical business solutions that must operate on very large, messy data sets, which are often reliant on big data and statistical techniques. A new market is emerging, which builds on some of the key concepts of the Semantic Web, but extends far beyond them to include more advanced technologies akin to Artificial Intelligence and Distributed Computing where interoperability and data integration can be more realistically implemented at scale.

What organizations really want is to enable applications to leverage context in near-real-time for improved analytics, decision support and capabilities to react to issues present. The goal is for ‘smart’ systems to perform the tedious work involved in finding, combining, and acting upon information – allowing SME’s to perform more of their day jobs and spend less time searching for answers. We need intelligent agents that automate more of the processing than is currently provided by Semantic Web tech by itself.

Dave will briefly review the current state of automation technologies and discuss new market demands and trends in Big Data Analytics, and demonstrate practical semantically-rooted capabilities that contemporary businesses can leverage and actually use to drive real world results at scale.
