While almost everyone can relate to data quality problems at the personal level, building an enterprise business case with acceptable ROI is another matter. The data may be buried in many silo systems, developed over a few decades, and owned by many data owners. Business processes have proved that they can run on less-then-perfect data quality, despite the inefficiencies and frictions it may create.\nIt may be useful to think about your data quality program as a ‘startup’ company. You are given a limited budget and limited time to develop and prove an idea, demonstrate value and most importantly become self-sustainable. Most organizations don’t want to subsidize a program forever, regardless of how noble is the cause. Failure to break even financially will put the program at risk during the upcoming budget cycles. It can be a “Do-Or-Die” moment. As data professionals, we all regard Data Quality to have intrinsic value on its’ own. But it ultimately may be your business skills that will determine the success of the program. During this presentation we will cover the business aspect of running a data quality program:\nEstablish the business plan\nDiscovery phase and pilots\nDelivery model – specifically why a Shared Service model may be something you want to consider\nFinancial management – including cost factors and expense recovery\nBranding and marketing\nEyal Almog has been leading the Data Quality Shared service since its launch in September 2013. He will share his experience and insights. You will find useful and practical business concepts that can be adopted anywhere.
