DESCRIPTION:Click for Latest Location Information: http://edw2015.dataversity.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=87&proposalid=7300\nPlease Note: This session continues to 11:45 am on Friday morning\nToo frequently, those considering implementing MDM overwhelmingly focus on data accumulation and integration into some presumed “golden record” destined to be a “single source of truth.” This is ill-advised as it creates an artificially-conformed record that is likely to be inconsistent with all of the systems and sources of record, leading to confusion.
\nIn this tutorial, designed for advanced MDM practitioners, we consider the practical aspects of operationalizing MDM while integrating it into the enterprise. We examine objectives of master data management from the perspective of the business process consumers of entity data and master indexes. We examine the consumption models: how master data is created, touched, and used, and configure our architecture in relation to how best to satisfy user expectations for the master entity index and the unified/composite view of entity data.
\nThe consumption model drives the determination of MDM architecture styles, processes for ingestion and identity resolution, master data syndication, master data synchronization, and master data stewardship and governance. Assessing the use cases for master data informs the design, development plan, and rollout program for MDM.\n
\nAttendees will learn to:\n\nProvide visibility into a composite, linked, shared view of all information associated with a uniquely identifiable entity that is relevant to the consuming application’s requirements.\nIdentify the types of master data touch points.\nProvide resolution of unique identity associated with one or more records given a set of search attributes.\nPreserve integrity of original data managed within system of record.\nCharacterize the data syndication and access methods and services.\nCatalog and demonstrate the use of keys or identifiers to be used for indexing or searching.\nArticulate the performance criteria for devising an acceptable level of service.\nEnable rendering of customized results based on consumer directives.\n
