Data is an important corporate asset. Data quality is the cornerstone of any effective enterprise data management strategy. An organization’s data quality can ultimately impact corporate profitability. Sound strategies are necessary to improve an enterprise’s data quality.

Provider data quality is a challenge for the entire health care industry. Provider data is a critical component of a health care organization’s data management as it determines decision making at all levels of an organization. If a company wishes to use data effectively, the data must be consistent, accurate and timely. This means the organization needs the services of data management professionals, business data stewards and IT professionals working together as part of an enterprise data management team.

This presentation will offer a methodology and implementation strategy for identifying, remediating and reporting improvements in provider data quality at the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies. The attendee will gain an understanding of the importance of data quality, how to strategize about data quality management, efficient correction of data anomalies, and effective ways to communicate metrics to senior management.

In this presentation you will learn:

  • The importance of establishing a partnership between IS and data stewards
  • The importance of identifying business rules, especially those concerned with data quality metrics
  • How to develop an enterprise data quality improvement strategy
  • The importance of teamwork and cross departmental cooperation
  • The importance of early successes and how that impacts future endeavors
  • Effective strategies on how the attendee can get a data quality initiative started at their organization
