Level:  Introductory

FIBO is a family of 29 ontologies that formally model how the Financial Industry operates. In development since the onset of the financial crisis in 2008, FIBO serves as the Rosetta Stone for the meaning of data across the industry world wide. FIBO is the product of the Enterprise Data Management Council (EDMC), a consortium of more than 130 organizations in the public and private sectors of the financial industry. FIBO is available in both the Universal Modeling Language (UML), a standard published by the Object Management Group (OMG) and in RDF/OWL, standards published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This presentation will explain:
  • The structure of FIBO
  • The FIBO Build, Test, Deploy and Maintain Methodology
  • How to become a part of the FIBO Team

Dennis Wisnosky provides technical strategy and operational guidance to the EDM Council with regard to finalizing and implementing the FIBO standards. Dennis brings extensive experience of enterprise architecture, ontology development and semantic web technology from his former role as the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Architect in the U.S. Department of Defense Business Mission Area, within the Office of the Deputy Chief Management Officer, and his many years of system development and deployment in the private sector.
