The cost of change, lack of agility, and fragmented System of Records are the common symptoms of sub-optimal data integration capabilities. To integrate data in a large heterogamous environment comprising of hundreds of hybrid modern and legacy applications, databases, and End Use Computing has been a big challenge in industry. Freddie Mac Architecture Services has been making headway in streamlining enterprise data integration. This case study presents a solution in a multiyear strategic endeavor to integrate data in the Freddie Mac Multifamily Division. \nA few new strategic systems and foundation have been ongoing to build toward holistic enterprise level data integration: \n
Multifamily Logical Data Model (MFLDM): a newly developed enterprise logical data model for the Multifamily business at Freddie Mac\nIntegration Middle Layer: an SOA WebLogic based middle tie to enable loosely coupling of application and systems\nOperational Data Store: a data hub for integrated operational data\nOperational Reporting: an application sitting on the top of the ODS to enable daily management and operational reports\nData Warehouse: enabling business analytics and business intelligence of both operational and finance historical data\nA set of metadata driven data services and an orchestrating framework: including Metadata Services, Validation Services, Staging Servicing, Orchestrating Services, Change Tracking Services, Runtime Statistics, and Data Identify Service
\nData moving between systems and persisting in the enterprise shared repositories conforms the MFLDM. This MFLDM has been developed through a close collaboration between the Business and IT at Freddie Mac.
